NUGW is an anti-racist, feminist union built by and for graduate workers. We’re committed to democratic decision‑making and centering historically excluded voices. We fight for better living and working conditions, including safe and equitable workplaces, financial security, and the academic freedom essential to our scholarship

Contract Wins
What We Fought For
In our first collective‐bargaining agreement, graduate workers secured retroactive bonuses, raises to the minimum stipend and equal monthly pay. We expanded health benefits to include vision and dental coverage, waived student health fees and won adoption and birth support. The contract provides visa and travel reimbursements and additional support for international workers’ authorization and scheduling. It also guarantees fully paid medical leave, formal appointment letters and a strong grievance procedure with union representation and just‐cause protections. For more information, see Our Contract.
